Meet the Director
Building our community through involvement…… It has certainly been a year of involvement for the Cape Coral Community Foundation. It began with a powerful strategic planning session by the Board of Directors early in the year. The Board examined the growth of the Foundation from its inception in 1973 to where it stands today, and the increased impact it is making on our community through increased grants and scholarships. This is an exciting time for the Foundation and its ongoing involvement in the community it serves. With growing assets comes the responsibility for increased outreach within the community. This past year the Foundation has done just that. We are uniting the community by facilitating the networking of not-for-profit agencies to share ideas and collaborations with local associations, United Way and other Florida based community foundations. We invested in events to bring the community together, such as our traditional golf classic, movie events, corporate venues to bring business leaders together and our signature annual art auction, which has raised funds to bring cultural arts to our growing community. This past year the Giving Alliance of Women has grown in membership and has certainly been a powerful component of the Cape Coral Community Foundation. Women are given opportunities for fellowship and at the same time make a difference in the community by addressing needs and issues that are important to them. Foundation staff has joined various forums to provide information on grant writing for local not-for-profit organizations. We have participated in several workshops to benefit and educate the many service agencies in our community, and we actively participate with other community foundations throughout Florida. It is through these collaborative efforts that each foundation can be a catalyst in its own community. We are making a difference by continuing to improve the quality of life in the greater Cape Coral community. 2008 will be a defining year for the Foundation as we explore various initiatives to further enhance the quality of life for all of Cape Coral. As the Foundation grows, it will be able to respond quickly to unforeseen challenges that this community may face. The Cape Coral Community Foundation has a knowledgeable staff and energized Board of committed community leaders. Through strategic grant making, community involvement and a centralized resource for donors to make a difference, the Foundation continues to provide philanthropic leadership to the Cape Coral community, as well as the not-for-profit agencies we work with collectively. I would personally like to thank the very dedicated Board of Directors, the many donors, our Corporate Partners and volunteers for all that you do to make the Cape Coral Community Foundation instrumental in “Building our Community.” Beth T.
